Meet the Baker

Hi I’m Lara!

Honey and Thyme was started in 2016 in my kitchen with a little push from family and friends.  I grew up baking from a young age and was always helping in the kitchen.  When I was a freshman in college, not having access to a kitchen drove me crazy, so I would go back home and bake the entire time.

Baking was always a fun hobby for me.  I love trying different flavor combinations, especially ones with teas, herbs and spices.  When I became gluten free in 2010 it was just another challenge I was able to play with and learn from.

Things came to a turning point when my brother and his fiancé asked me to make their wedding cake in 2017; to be honest, I laughed at the suggestion.  After all 1) I’d never made a wedding cake before, 2) there was going to be around 100 people attending and 3) not to mention it was in the English countryside.  Without hesitation, I dove head-first into it and after 6 months of practicing different recipes and fine tuning flavors, I achieved the perfect balance.

From there Honey and Thyme grew with a lot of help from friends, family and word of mouth.  I could not have continued this journey balancing a full-time job and baking wedding cakes without them.
